The example is wrong and for this function to work correctly you need to remove the leading carriage
return after:
<pre>
$xmlData = '
</pre>
Of course the XML document isn't even well formed as the <br>'s should be
<br/>.
The style sheet should also do a <xsl:copy-of select="body"> instead of a value-of
so the <br>'s show up in the result.
