Maybe this is a bug or not. But it's how date works:
$nextsbmbcYm=date(Ym,mktime(0, 0, 0, date("m")+1, date("d"),date
("Y"))); yields 200705
// Month after next
$nextNextCalYm= date(Ym,mktime(0, 0, 0, date("m")+2, date("d"),date
("Y"))); yields 200705
That is they both give the same result. PHP Version 4.3.11
on March 31, 2007.
