----
In PHP 5.2.1 I tested this code:
<?php
// do nothing
<?
?>
error_reporting = E_STRICT causes that the browser returns a blank page
error_reporting = E_ALL returns "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in
htdocs\test.php on line 3"
So if you want E_STRICT testing you can use "error_reporting = E_ALL|E_STRICT". I
don't know if this behavior is intentional. This construction is also neither in the manual nor
in the comments of the php.ini files.
