The information returned by get_current_user() seems to depend on the platform. Using PHP 5.1.1 running as CGI with IIS 5.0 on Windows NT, get_current_user() returns the owner of the process running the script, *not* the owner of the script itself. It's easy to test - create a file containing: <? echo get_current_user(); ?> Then access it through the browser. I get: IUSR_MACHINE, the Internet Guest Account on Windows, which is certainly not the owner of the script. ---- Server IP: 87.124.64.96 Probable Submitter: 158.143.65.72 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.get-current-user.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/75059 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/75059/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/75059/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/75059/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/75059/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/75059/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/75059/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/75059 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/75059 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
