Just so you know, imap_sort apparently refuses to reverse SORTARRIVAL.
Scenario:
<?php
$result1 = imap_sort($mbox_id, SORTARRIVAL, false);
$result2 = imap_sort($mbox_id, SORTARRIVAL, true);
?>
Result:
$result1 and $result2 are identical
Solution:
$result = array_reverse($result);
