The ntwdblib.dll that ships with PHP is old. You should have the latest one some where in your PATH
when trying to connect to SQL Server 2005. The latest version is 8.00.2039 from SQL Server 2000
Service Pack 4. Check the version by right clicking => Properties => Version => Product

Either download and extract the dll from SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 or get it from
http://www.xamount.ca/pages/php_and_mssql.php
