This function is very buggy.
On PHP 5.2.0, running this function always return "false" on my dev system. Tcpdump
reveals that, for some obscure, PHP internal reason, request is performed on some invented DNS
server (192.168.50.1), which of course is not the DNS in my /etc/resolv.conf.
Erratic behaviour.
