Note Submitter: rene at metalbunny dot net ---- My first attempt involved using the Apache 2.2 module. But as soon as I added MySQL 5 to the system, the PHP module would fail on startup - complaining that the PHP extensions were not valid PHP extensions, and would crash, taking Apache down with it. First install was done with the Windows installer. Second attempt I got the manual-install ZIP and overwrote the existing files, and the Apache module would still not work. Then I switched to the CGI module instead, but kept getting 403 errors. Tried everything in these comments, but no change. In the end, I threw out the existing php.ini files (which were leftover from the windows php installer), and used php.ini-recommended to build a new one. And now it works!! The CGI version atleast, not in the mood to change http.conf again to try with the module. Lesson learned: The Windows installer for the PHP package is useless. It doesn't come with php.ini-dist or php.ini-recommended, and the php.ini it creates defaults to load every single extension (which is really stupid), and even though I editied it manually, I still could not get PHP to work. So the manual install is really the only one that you can use for Windows at this time. Just one strange thing left I can't explain: Configuration File (php.ini) Path C:\WINDOWS Loaded Configuration File C:\PHP\php.ini This is from phpinfo(). I have SetEnv PHPRC C:/php in httpd.conf, but because of this oddity I have the same php.ini file in both c:\php and c:\windows. PHP 5.2.5, Apache 2.2.6, WinXP Pro SP2, MySQL 5.0.45 Community
