In response to manuel at sadism-softworks dot de ( http://it2.php.net/manual/en/function.crc32.php#75061 ) You should never buffer all this stuff because you will need a lot of I/O without any really benefit! In a normal case (7.200rpm disk with ide/sata 8/16mb of cache) you should not read more that 8kb, or, at least, not more of 16kb. The reason is simple: if you read, for example, of 128kb the system will do 16 i/o reads each of 8kb! So the performance will be the same (or really near) but you will use really few memory for the script ... in that way you let to the server to have more memory for other scripts and stuffs ---- Server IP: 80.241.173.254 Probable Submitter: 79.15.22.97 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.crc32.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/79876 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/79876/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/79876/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/79876/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/79876/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/79876/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/79876/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/79876 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/79876 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
