Wow, thanks thales. I've been struggling with session not being set after
Header("Location:...") for couple of days now.
Calling session_write_close before the redirection doesn't fix it and neither did any of the
other suggestions below. On the second attempt it works fine, but since this is a login screen it
basically forces the user to log in twice each time.
After reading your post I tried replacing this path "/afterlogin.php" to the redirected
file with a relative path "afterlogin.php" and now it works fine.
