Windows work in mysterious ways! After installing PHP5.2.5 on IIS 5.1 using the msi, and ensuring all these 1. IUSR has read and execute permission on the various directories 2. IIS/Default Web Site/Properties/Home Directory/Configuration/PHP is set to php5isapi.dll not using the tilde 3. force_cgi = 0 4. doc_root is empty Got phpinfo working from the webroot but I still got the dreaded 404 on other virtual directories THEN, including IUSR and IWAM into the Administrators group made phpinfo work from ALL the virtual directories after restarting www service and no more 404 THEN MYSTERIOUSLY excluding IUSR and IWAM from the Adminstrators group and restrating www service and flushing the temporary ionternet cache STILL got phpinfo running from all the virtual directories without the 404 anymore!
