After being driven batty for a good day and a half at why *any* of the image output functions were
giving me the infamous 'The image <path> cannot be displayed, because it contains
errors.' message with *no* php error in the source, make sure if you have an auto pre/append
script it doesn't have any extra blank lines at the start or the end as they'll cause this
problem when the browser tries to view the buffer as an image file.
