Here is a simple way to verify an email address:
<?php
if(!ereg("^[a-zA-Z0-9\._\-]+@[a-zA-Z0-9\-\.]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,4}$", $email))
$correct = true;
else
$correct = false;
?>
