To take care of proper error checking, one must use try-catch blocks:
try {
$sxe = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlstring);
} catch (Exception $e) {
echo "bad xml";
}
To get rid of warnings, use @ in front of new:
try {
$sxe = @new SimpleXMLElement($xmlstring);
} catch (Exception $e) {
echo "bad xml";
}
