I was wondering if anyone has had any trouble setting up a simple listening server in php-4.0.5 running on linux. I have almost exactly the example, none of the commands report errors and the accept_connect() blocks the system as if it were listening, but it refuses to actually accept connects. A quick netstat also shows that it is not in fact listening. I've tried several ports (all above 1024) and the result stays the same. My only theory is that php4 can't use sockets when it's compiled as a CGI. Any help would be great. http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.sockets.php
