This does not work:
if (isset($HTTP_POST_VARS)) ...
to determine if anything was posted to a page. It is set as an array (albeit one with no members),
and isset() and empty() both think it is set or non-empty. Use this instead:
if (sizeof($HTTP_POST_VARS)) ...
This works with any of the PHP arrays like that; e.g., $HTTP_COOKIE_VARS, etc.
