Well, until the GD extension has the power to anti-alias, you'll be stuck with those pixelated lines and curves. I wrote a fancy script that creates perfectly anti-aliased rounded corners. It also supports variable opacity levels for all colors as well as other shapes. (rounded rectangles, and the sides of rounded rectangles). Have a look see, and download to use with your site.
