Note Submitter: ilatypov at infradead dot org ---- The php.ini parser will discard the file contents silently if any syntax error occurs. In my case, I accidentally commented out a line in the beginning of the file with a hash mark instead of a semi-colon. This prevented from even seeing the error messages. Particularly, I could not understand why my changes of session.save_path do not show up in ini_get() and ini_get_all() output. Very, very nasty issue. I suggest PHP authors to write a message about a syntax error in php.ini to stderr. Pretty please!
