Do not try to pass options to the php binary as well as to the script as this does not work.
I tried:
> php -f script.php -tdaily
with:
<?php
$options = getopt("t:");
var_dump($options);
?>
and got nowhere fast.
If you have this same issue make sure that the php binary is in your $PATH
