Zoe Blade, you should have take care of rtwolf comment below.
For exemple, today (2009-01-31) :
<?php
echo date('Y-m-01', strtotime('next month');
?>
will output 2009-03-01 and not 2009-02-01.
So to have the number of days left in the month:

$daysLeftInMonth = ceil( ( strtotime("+1 month", strtotime(date("F") .
"1")) - time() )/86400 );
?>
