On some shared hosts like 1and1.co.uk, when using mail() function with '-f' flag, email may be quietly 'dropped' and not sent at all without any error message returned if '-f' option is used without email address valid on this host. For example, if used as '-ftest@test.com' the email will be dropped on 1and1 provider. But if you have a 'real' mailbox on the server, for example 'black-hole@mydomain.com', and you use '-fblack-hole@mydomain.com' then the email will be sent. At the same time envelope's 'Return-Path' will be set properly to 'black-hole@mydomain.com' instead of 'test@shared.host.name'. ---- Server IP: 87.124.35.190 Probable Submitter: 86.130.222.77 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mail.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/89667 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/89667/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/89667/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/89667/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/89667/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/89667/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/89667/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/89667 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/89667 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
