Apparently, the php-mysql functions always return results as strings, including values from numeric
fields.
This causes issues for those users who need the results to be properly typed.
An example of this is passing the results array to 'json_encode()' function; it makes life
much easier if numeric values are correctly represented as numbers in the resulting json output.
Is there a reason why the php mysql* functions are setup to return everything as a string?
How could this be submitted as a feature request?
(correct typing of values in db query results)...
