Lately I have seen an oddity in PHP4's version of mysql_query(). After discovering that
msyql_query would escape special characters automatically, I removed the addslashes() from my code,
only to discover that a couple of months later, it has reverted to its original function of not
escaping special characters. I recommend testing this behavior first before implementing.
