The new "tighten" feature of open_basedir for PHP 5.3RC2 does not work if you use
apache/mod_php and reload a page twice or more
(See bug 47945 : http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=47945 )
The workaround I found :
add some slashes in the open_basedir path in php.ini :
open_basedir = /home/elapouya///////////////////////
/////////////////////////////////////
AND
add a dummy path in the ini_set before the one you want to be set, because it will be crashed by the
bug :
ini_set("open_basedir",
"/____________________________/:/home/elapouya/perso/www/");
By this way, in this exemple, you can tighten an open_basedir from /home/elapouya to
/home/elapouya/perso/www
