Hello All,
Thank you for the latest binary of PHP5.
php-5.2.9-2-win32-installer.msi
I am also running the latest binary of Apache2.
apache_2.2.11-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.8i.msi
I am also running Windows XP3 with all the latest updates.
When I installed the latest Apache2 I forgot to uninstall
the previous version but it warned me and stopped me.
When I installed the latest PHP5 I again forgot to uninstall
the previous version but there was no warning.
Then the PHP5 installer could not find my httpd.conf file.
It did not invite me to browse for it as with previous versions.
I did put the relevant entry in httpd.conf to enable PHP5.
PHP5 did not work.
SO I uninstalled Apache2 and PHP5 and then reinstalled
Apache2 and PHP5. PHP5 still did not work.
So I uninstalled Apache2 and PHP5 and cleaned the registry
with JV16 and regedit removing all mention of PHP.
I then reinstalled Apache2 and PHP5 and again
the PHP5 could not find my httpd.conf file.
But everything worked great.
Before that I was running a web server
http://devendra.webhop.info which was available to the
public.
I was hacked very badly and so I no longer do so.
I know that there is a warning in the documentation
not to make available PHP5 with the default settings
but I did not read it.
Please could we have a warning at install time not to do this.
Best wishes and thanks
John
