If you try to execute a command under Windows the PHP script normally waits until the process has been terminated. Executing long-term processes pauses a PHP script even if you don't want to wait for the end of the process. It wasn't easy to find this beautiful example how to start a process under Windows without waiting for its termination: <?php $commandString = 'start /b c:\\programToRun.exe -attachment "c:\\temp\file1.txt"'; pclose(popen($commandString, 'r')); ?> According to: http://lemmingzshadow.net/6/php-scripte-im-hintergrund-ausfuhren/ ---- Server IP: 64.71.164.2 Probable Submitter: 79.212.34.159 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.popen.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/92413 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/92413/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/92413/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/92413/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/92413/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/92413/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/92413/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/92413 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/92413 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
