In response to scurvysquid's comment, ImageMagick supports over 100 file formats according to
the imagemagick project page, not just JPEG or TIFF. I believe Thomas' point was that if you do
not wish to lose EXIF data, use ImageMagick over GD. Otherwise, GD is fine.
