In response to 'Anonymous' below, Perl Compatible Regular Expressions are FAR more powerful than their POSIX counterparts, which is exactly why the latter are being deprecated and removed. There is very little additional work required to use them – it's merely a matter of script kiddies being afraid of them that causes lots of performance issues. They absolutely should be removed. PCRE are here to stay – just look at your favorite text editors and every other popular high-level language – they all support them. ---- Server IP: 209.41.74.194 Probable Submitter: 72.177.49.202 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/intro.pcre.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/93251 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93251/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93251/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93251/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93251/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93251/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93251/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93251 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/93251 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
