After struggling with using strtotime() to find the next Thursday, on two servers, one running PHP 5.2.5 and the other PHP 4.3.11, the order of words in the format string makes all the difference. On 10/03/2009, I got these results (2009-10-08 is the correct result): +-----------------------------+------------+-------------+ | | 5.2.5 | 4.3.11 | +-----------------------------+------------+-------------+ | strtotime('next thursday') | 2009-10-08 | 2009-10-15 | +-----------------------------+------------+-------------+ | strtotime('thursday next') | 1969-12-31 | 2009-10-08 | +-----------------------------+------------+-------------+ ---- Server IP: 209.41.74.194 Probable Submitter: 209.233.23.46 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.phpversion.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/93856 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93856/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93856/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93856/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93856/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93856/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93856/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/93856 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/93856 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
