Actually, it doesn't require a tenacious hacker or a cryptographer to decipher the above
username and password, all it requires is a pass through base64decode() and that's pretty
standard since usernames and passwords that are "transmitted in the clear" are nearly
always base64encoded (HTTP WWW Auth Basic, telnet, ftp, etc.).
The only advantage the above code gives is the fact that the username and password are encoded for
text transmission which means if there are high bit characters i the password (or the like), they
will be properly understood on the ther end.
