In response to rabby (28-Apr-2009 02:53), simply splitting long strings into smaller chunks to get
around the segfault errors won't work if you are dealing with multi-byte encodings like UTF-8.
If you split the string at arbitrary lengths, you may be splitting it in the middle of a multi-byte
character. You'd either need to modify your splitting routine to look for multi-byte characters
around the split boundary and make sure you are returning whole characters in each string, or find
some other way around the segfault problem.
