I am a bit unclear about $module parameter. What are the options? Who knows. However, this
combination of commands works for me very stable:

session_module_name('user');
session_set_save_handler("s_open", "s_close", "s_read",
"s_write", "s_destroy", "s_gcollector");
?>
And I define php functions for the session read/write that saves it into database.
