Oh what grief I can forsee with this wretched perverse middle-endian date format. It appears that
all the simple PHP date-parsing functions expect the date arguments to be supplied in perverse
middle-endian order (mm-dd-yyyy), for obvious historical reasons of cultural hegemony. Can we not
have a sane date parser that works with the logical ISO 8601 format? This (yyyy-mm-dd) is also the
norm for date representations in the most populous nation on earth, so it ought to be the way
forward.
