note 96036 added to class.arrayaccess

The code provided by Cintix will not work as expected. Calling current() on the collection object will actually return the current element of the object not of the contained collection! I do not know if this in intended behaviour or if the implemented interfaces should actually map to all array functions properly. This is as of version 5.2.1.
