In case you want to read TGA file with just PHP without external apps you might try function imagecreatefromtga() from: http://de77.com/php/open-tga-with-php-imagecreatefromtga It *does* support both uncompressed and RLE compressed images, does not have problems with "mirrored" images and is fast.
