I wish to complete Cam's important note:
The MS sqlsrv-Driver does not support mssql-functionality.
It supports only sqlsrv-functions.
A workaround with the old and deprecated ntwdblib.dll for mssql-functions will not help for use of
php5.3 and MS SQL Server in the future.
If you have some hundred php-scripts and tools like a CMS with mssql-functions in a lot of templates
you would not be delighted in changing all of them for php5.3 with sqlsrv-functions!
But maybe there are other solutions: php_dblib.dll with FreeTDS for Windows and ODBTP. I am still
testing.
Some helpful information are at http://docs.moodle.org/en/Installing_MSSQL_for_PHP
I cannot understand why this essential change - no more php_mssql.dll since version 5.3.0 - was not
listed in the change log - or where is it logged? - and php users have to waste hours and days to
find out about this and an alternative.
Who would guess the removing if there is a change log entry "Fixed bug #47087 (Second parameter
of mssql_fetch_array()). (Felipe)" for version 5.3.0?
