Note Submitter: sergio dot bobillier at gmail dot com ---- You can not change PHP version on windows XP on the fly. If you have more than one version of PHP in your server (like for test porpoises or something) and you want to switch from one version to another you won't be able to do this without rebooting your machine, here is what happens: You have the php directory in the system path and you have the PHP modules in the httpd.conf file like this: #PHP5 modules #WARNING! These modules MUST NOT be active at the same time #PHP 5.2.13 LoadModule php5_module "c:\php\5.2.13\php5apache2_2.dll" AddType application/x-httpd-php .php PHPIniDir "C:\php\5.2.13\" #PHP 5.3.2 #LoadModule php5_module "c:\php\5.3.2\php5apache2_2.dll" #AddType application/x-httpd-php .php #PHPIniDir "C:\php\5.3.2" If you start your server with one version and then you want to switch to the other even if you change the httpd.conf and the PHP path in the system path variable for some reason I can not grasp apache will try to load the library he loaded the last time. After switching from 5.3.2 to 5.2.12 this is what I i found in the event viewer: Aplicación con errores: httpd.exe, versión: 2.2.14.0, módulo con error: php5ts.dll, versión 5.3.2.0, dirección de error 0x00084d8b. As you can see even when i changed httpd.conf and the system path variable the library being loaded was version 5.3.2.0. After a reboot apache started cleanly. Not a lot of people have more than one version of apache in the same machine but since i spend so many hours trying to figure out why apache was crashing i think it would be worth to be here.
