The example is misleading. Where it notes:
// in reality the only entries we should
// consider are E_WARNING, E_NOTICE, E_USER_ERROR,
// E_USER_WARNING and E_USER_NOTICE
It should say something like "Only these errors (plus E_RECOVERABLE_ERROR) a can be handled by
a user defined handler".
I.e. the "$errortype" array contains redundant entries.
