The documentation on this page is incorrect. Please note that this is NOT a bug report as it's
just a minor oversight in the documentation on this specific page of the manual.
Specifically, the second line of Example #3 will throw the following error on IIS 7:
ERROR ( message:Cannot find SITE object with identifier
"path='*.php',verb='*',m
odules='FastCgiModule',scriptProcessor='(path-to-PHP)\php-cgi.e
xe',resourceType='Either']". )
It took me several hours to figure this one out, especially since the error message is itself
misleading. Basically, this is occuring because the documentation has a space before the
"path=" portion of the command. This might seem harmless enough, but since the
documentation also doesn't enclose the entire section in double-quotes, appcmd assumes that the
space means you're trying to reference a separate object identifier.
If you encounter this problem, this fix is insultingly simple: Just remove the space between
"name='PHP_via_FastCGI'," and "path='*.php'". Either that,
or you can just enclose the entire section in double-quotes, but since the space is superfluous
anyway, it would make more sense to simply remove it.
