In the time comparisons I made, the time differences were hardly worth worrying about.
Using Kevin's code below with an iteration of 100,000 concats of 15 variables only showed a
time difference of 20 milliseconds or so, about 20 % faster for the string method vs the . method.
Time differences for typical simple concats would be completely negligible.
Just my two cents. :-)
