PHP mcrypt extension installation under Windows XP / AppServ 2.5.10
===================================================================
Step 1 : Php.ini file
===========================
- Locate the loading "php.ini" file, by default in the "C:\Windows" folder.
Edit it and uncomment (remove the semicolon) the following line:
extension=php_mcrypt.dll
- Elsewhere in the file is a line setting the path to the extension directory (i.e. where
"php_mycrypt.dll" is located) -- search for "extension_dir" variable.
It should look something like:
extension_dir = "C:\appserv\php5\ext\"
Step 2 : DLL files
===========================
- Locate the file "libmcrypt.dll" in the directory "C:\appserv\php5". Copy the
file to the following directories:
From "C:\appserv\php5" folder to "C:\appserv\php5\ext" folder.
(To make sure that mcrypt doesn't fail to load when using Windows XP,
Apache 2 and php 5, even if all the required procedure to install it has been accomplished already,
copy "libmcrypt.dll",
which is normally in the php main directory, into the "php\ext" directory, where it should
already the "php_mcrypt.dll" file be)
From "C:\appserv\php5" folder to "C:\windows\system32" folder.
Step 3 : Load configuration
===========================
- Reboot your system.
- Use the following PHP script to test your configuration:
<?php
if(!extension_loaded('mcrypt')) { echo 'You are missing the
<strong>mcrypt</strong> extension.'; }
else {echo 'The <strong>mcrypt</strong> extension is installed correctly.'; }
?>
