Maybe this is the wrong forum, but I'ld like to request any developer of any serios application
to avoid the use of ini_set() completely.
Better:
- write a proper documentation with any needs of your application
- have an example php.ini attached
- explain why your application needs this or that ini value
Environmental parameters should remain to the proprietary of the environment. Modifying them from
inside the application may or may not work, dependent on the settings of the hosting environment.
Having a clear, descriptive explanation of why your application needs some tweaks tells the
respective sysadmin much more as any (mostly undocumented) ini_set() line and would in consequence
lead to a higher acceptance of your application and maybe hosting presets with matching parameters.
This said by an agonized admin.
