@karsten: That is truth only if using CLI-version of PHP (./cli/php.exe for PHP4 or ./php.exe (not
php-cgi.exe) for PHP5).
In CGI-version register_argc_argv WILL affect existiing of $argv global variable.
But you can still call CGI-version ignoring php.ini: php -n file.php
