I can confirm and add to the post from Micio2 on Feb 10 2010. You must also qualify the server
instance for Standard Edition of MS SQL Server 2005. I was having trouble connecting the following:
MSSQL Server 2005 (9.0.xxxx)
PHP (ver 5.2.14)
IIS (6)
When I fully qualified the server and instance (i.e. $server = 'MYSERVER\SQLINSTANCE')
everything started connecting.
