After having some trouble connecting to a HTTPS site that required authorization, I found out that
you can do the following (replace "user:pass" with your own username and password):
fopen("https://user:pass@server.com/whatever",
"r");
I tried this using false credentials while running Wireshark, and the username and password
weren't sent as plain-text. So it should be fairly safe to use.
