The manual says "when PHP hits the ?> closing tags, it simply starts outputting whatever it
finds".
That is not correct. In this case PHP will output "This is true" or "This is
false", but not both!
<?php
if ($expression) {
?>
<strong>This is true.</strong>
<?php
} else {
?>
<strong>This is false.</strong>
<?php
}
?>
