Tuve varios problemas con la función imagecreatefromjpeg(), cuando se procesaban ficheros de
grandes dimensiones.
La solución final fue incrementar la memoria del servidor mediante el fichero .htaccess y la
directiva:
php_value memory_limit 64M
Dicho valor anteriormente estaba establecido a 32M.
Ahora todo funciona perfectamente.
