pcre.backtrack_limit defaults to 100k. This is rather conservative. It is limited by RAM size, not the ulimit on stack-size. On a (2009-era) netbook, I can set pcre.backtrack_limit to 100 million, and the regex will happily process a 90 million character string in about 3 seconds. YMMV. ---- Server IP: 69.147.83.197 Probable Submitter: 87.127.101.241 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/pcre.configuration.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/101864 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/101864/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/101864/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/101864/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/101864/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/101864/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/101864/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/101864 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/101864 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
