You can use the HTML-ENTITIES encoding to insert arbitrary Unicode characters, e.g. "U+25B6 (BLACK RIGHT-POINTING TRIANGLE)": <?php $triangle = mb_convert_encoding('▶', 'UTF-8', 'HTML-ENTITIES'); ?> Be aware though that older PHP versions do not seem to support hexadecimal notation (▶). In such case, use decimal notation (▶): <?php $triangle = mb_convert_encoding('▶', 'UTF-8', 'HTML-ENTITIES'); ?> ---- Server IP: 80.64.47.13 Probable Submitter: 80.37.14.51 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mb-convert-encoding.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/103300 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/103300/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/103300/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/103300/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/103300/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/103300/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/103300/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/103300 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/103300 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
