Expectedly <?php $string[$x] ?> and <?php substr($string, $x, 1) ?> will yield the same
result... normally!
However, when you turn on the Function Overloading Feature
(http://php.net/manual/en/mbstring.overload.php), this might not be true!
If you use this Overloading Feature with 3rd party software, you should check for usage of the
String access operator, otherwise you might be in for some nasty surprises.
